HOW CAN I KNOW I AM GOING TO HEAVEN?
This is the most important question of life. Unfortunately, many people live their entire lives without 100% assurance of their eternal destiny. When most people are asked if they are going to heaven when they die, the normally respond with “I hope so, I think so, I am pretty sure, etc…” But the Bible is clear God wants us to “know that we have eternal life.” (I John 5:13)
Step #1: Realize that God loves you.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Step #2: Realize you are separated from God because of sin.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
People try to earn their way to heaven through good works, religion, morality, etc. but the Bible says that “there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
A relationship with Jesus Christ who died on the Cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin.
“…For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 2:5
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Step #3: Receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
“If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
You can take these steps by praying a simple prayer of commitment to God:
“Dear Jesus, thank you for loving me. I realize I have sinned. I want you to forgive me of my sins. I believe you died on the cross for me, were buried and rose from the dead for me. I right now ask you to come into my heart and take me to heaven when I die. As much as I know how, I want to follow you from now on. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
